At Lowca Community School we follow the National Curriculum provided by the DfE for the pupils in Years 1 to 6. This outlines the subjects and content we must cover for each year group. Please click on the link below to view this document. This is supported by in-house policies, sequences of learning and specialist schemes using evidenced based learning to enhance our provision.

Literacy
We focus our writing skills around a range of high quality and diverse texts to ensure that children see the link between reading and writing. Each class will study a book and complete a wide range of genre based writing tasks linked to the text as well as apply English skills which are taught discreetly first.
Our non-core subjects are taught through a range of Curriculum Schemes including Kapow, P.E. Hub and Teach Computing, and adapted to pupils’ needs and our local context. The sequencing of topics and subjects taught between the year groups can be seen in our Long Term Plans on the Curriculum page. To learn about what children will cover as part of their Relationships and Sex Education lessons, please click on the Policy Document below.
If you would like to discuss our Curriculum in more detail please contact your child’s class teacher or the headteacher.
