School meals

Currently the school has had to amend our school meals arrangements due to circumstances beyond our control.  However we have arranged to buy in the meal service from Orian, the menus can be viewed in the link below:

The school prepares a selection of home-made meals, where possible from locally sourced fresh ingredients. You can purchase a school meal for £2.00 per meal or £10.00 per week, cheques for school meals are now paid directly to Cumbria County Council and not to the school.  Your child can choose dinners from the weekly plans below and have packed lunch some days and cooked dinner on the days their favourites are on the menu.

The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) give you information about the hygiene standards in the school. The scheme is run by local the authority in partnership with the Food Standards Agency.

Our school is given a ‘hygiene rating’ when it is inspected by a food safety officer from the local authority. The hygiene rating shows how closely the school is meeting the requirements of food hygiene law.

Jim and all his staff take great pride in all aspects of the kitchen environment and food preparation.  Each inspection checks the following criteria:

  • how hygienically the food is handled – how it is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored
  • the condition of the structure of the buildings – the cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation and other facilities
  • how the school  manages and records what it does to make sure food is safe

Here is our latest food standards agency inspection rating:

Alternatively ask in the school office for a chat with our administrator or Mrs Crawford, which would of course be confidential. This grant is such a wonderful benefit that it seems wrong not to claim it for your family.
